So as we all well know….when we finally find that project that we absolutely love, either because we love the way it looks or we had so much fun stitching it….or better yet both, we make that project for everyone we can think of. It usually is that or it’s because people see the new project you are making and they love it. Then they ask you to make it for them. Either way, it happens more often than not, that once you make one of something and it turns out great, you can expect to make it again. So is the story of the ruffle legwarmers. The great thing is that this was one of those projects that was both of the things listed above….super cute and fun to stitch. I can’t remember if I made these as a gift for my niece because I loved them or because my sister requested a pair. Either way Abigail’s Knit Ruffle Legwarmers hit my needles.
The other thing that is really jumping out to me as I head back down memory lane is the fact that Adilynn’s pair of finished legwarmers and Abby’s pair of finished legwarmers are dated only 2 days apart!! How in the world did I have that kind of time to stitch back then?! And I wouldn’t have even known the 2 at a time method when I stitched these because that is a technique that I only learned within the last year or so. I just wish I could figure out what I was doing then to maximize my time so I could put it into practice again today and get more stitching time. LOL

Abigail’s Knit Ruffle Legwarmers Pattern Info:
The pattern I used for this project was Striped Leg Warmers by Cheryl Murray. You can also find a copy of the book I found the pattern in on amazon for fairly cheap. I’m attaching a link for that below.
Abigail’s Knit Ruffle Legwarmers Yarn Info:
I stitched this pair of legwarmers exactly the same as the ones I made for Adilynn. I used:
Bernat Softee Baby Colorway: Antinque White and
Lion Brand Pound of Love Colorway: Pastel Pink
Other good yarn choices to use to make this would be Vanna’s Choice, Caron Simply Soft Party, and Red Heart Soft. I recommend any of these. I’m including an Amazon link below to find a few yarn choices there. A few other places to check out yarn are Knit Picks (I will post some colorways for this company below) and Create For Less websites.

Knitting Needles and Tools
Something else that comes in handy if you decide you’d like to stitch this pattern up for yourself is a good set of knitting needles . My favorite brand to use, and the only kind I have ever really purchased, are the Knit Picks brand. I just love them.
You can also find options at any of your local craft stores or even on Amazon. I’ll be sure to include a few other links of several buying options to choose from and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them. 😊 You will see that most of the options I recommend are interchangeable sets, and only ones that I have heard great reviews on, even if I don’t personally own each brand. Interchangeable needles are going to be the most economical way to get started as you can use them for a wide variety of projects. Whatever you do, make sure to do your research. If you purchase a quality needle from the start, you won’t have to buy replacements later on. They will stand the test of time and use, so do your homework first and shop smart!
The pics below are many of the same ones of Adilynn modeling her pair of legwarmers because I can’t find all the pics of my niece wearing hers!! I know I have more than the one shown below but I have to track them down. Once I find them I will try to remember to come back and update this post. 🙂 They are exactly the same pair of legwarmers so they won’t look much different than this anyway, LOL.
Still Need Help?
If you currently don’t know how to knit, I’d be happy to stitch these up for you, just send me a message to custom order. Or…. I highly recommend learning how to knit yourself! Check out the site for Annie’s below for an online learning option. I’m also including a link for a kit similar to what I purchased back in 2012 that I used to aid in teaching myself to knit, long before these great online resources were as readily available.
A few final notes:
Finally, here are the few little notes and tips I took for myself and saved in Ravelry when I stitched the first pair up. I just used the same notes on this pair as well.
*Pattern is written for size 6-12 months. In order to adjust for 24 month will use size 6 and 7 double pointed needles and follow pattern as written. Will post later to tell if this worked or not. 😊
This worked. I will try to post another pic soon of them being worn/modeled by a 24 month old. 😊*
That should be about all you need if you want to try this one out. Please let me know if you have any questions or need any help. Also make sure to check out the links below for some sales Cricut is running right now. Make sure to check the end dates, some are ending soon!
Happy Stitching!
