Oh boy. Surely if you have been following along lately, you will realize immediately that I goofed again. Ugh. How in the world I didn’t have these projects listed in my stitching journal I’ll never know. In fact, this is one of my favorite variations of the flower fringe textured crochet scarf that I ever did. Naturally it was a crochet flower hat and scarf gift set that I stitched for my youngest daughter. But it follows the same pattern that I used to stitch multiple other projects as well.
To clarify a little more, my daughter had an adorable winter jacket that I loved. Of course I wanted her to have an adorable crochet flower hat and scarf gift set to go along with it! Undoubtedly this is one of the best parts of being able to stitch things myself. Because this means I can design and create whatever I want for my kiddos!

Crochet Flower Hat and Scarf Gift Set Pattern Info:
It just so happens the scarf pattern is a Stay@Home Stitchings original. That being said, I did have a little help in the flower fringe design using the book Crochet Borders book you see pictured below. The image is a link to the book on Amazon. The hat was created from my Ninja Turtle Newsboy Hat and/or Beanie Pattern. Instead of doing the ties, as in the Ninja Turtle Pattern, I crocheted a flower instead. You can find my 3 Layer Flower Pattern that I shared on another post. You can also find my pattern for my Flower and Car Fringe Textured Scarf Pattern which I designed to go with this hat to make a beautiful textured set to give as a set.

This was a great pattern, but I did run into a few issues with the sizing of it not working out for me. I recreated the pattern later for myself in the form of the Ninja Turtle hat and recalculated the stitches for what worked better for me.
However, I never wrote that pattern out for the flower version out of respect for the original designer. Because it was too close to her creation and I didn’t want to infringe on that in any way. I do use my Ninja Turtle pattern for the flower hat and just adjust the striping accordingly, but you can’t go wrong with either one. Without a doubt, she has some really awesome designs and is definitely worth checking out.
For the flower part of this hat I used the pattern I created: Free 3 Layer Flower Pattern. However it would be easy to exchange it for a whole new look. Yarn used for the crochet flower hat and scarf gift set:
White: Caron Simply Soft Party Yarn in the Snow colorway
Dark Pink: Lion Brand Pound of love in Bubblegum. To be honest, this color is not as easily found today as when I stitched this scarf years ago. Have no fear, though. Undoubtedly any worsted weight yarn will work well for this project.
Light Pink and Brown: I do not have these two colors documented as to what I used. Chances are it was Lion Brand Pound of Love, Vanna’s Choice or Wool-Ease but I do not want to specify in case I am not remembering correctly.
Another good substitute would be any worsted weight yarn..

A good place to check out to see if you could find good yarn sales are the Lion Brand Website or the Create For Less website. Knit Picks also has a variety of worsted weight yarns to choose from that I will also share links for below that you could use to stitch this up as well. The list won’t be exhaustive, so make sure to check out their website yourself if you don’t find anything I’ve shared to be what you’re looking for. They definitely have a LOT more options than just what’s posted here.
What hooks and tools are needed to make this crochet project?
For this project I used U.S. Size I (5.5 0 mm), J (6.0mm) and K (6.5mm) hooks.
Something else that comes in handy if you decide you’d like to stitch these sets up for yourself is a good set of crochet hooks. My favorite brand to use are the Knit Picks brand.
I also have a cute little set from Amazon that I love too. You can buy this one fairly inexpensively and it comes with some tools and notions that will be helpful too. Several buying options to choose from and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them. 🙂 I also have the light up set pictured below. I love that it’s rechargeable!
Make it even more fun and get the whole beginner crochet kit.
Additional Tools for when your wrists and/or hands ache
If you are like me and you knit and crochet a lot, something that I have found is useful at times is a pair of stress relief gloves. I own a few different kinds, but I do think any of them is better than not using anything at all if your hands and wrists are bothering you. I’ll include a few links for you to check out.
