~August 24, 2012~
If you have been following my blog for any length of time, you will recall that I had crocheted my niece a pair of barefoot sandals at the beginning of August 2012. As you might expect after seeing all of that adorableness… I had several more requests for them after posting pics of her wearing hers. For whatever reason that I can’t think of….other than it was a small, quick project….I did not keep record of who I made these for or what pattern I used. I’m just doing one post for the other few pairs that I stitched and documenting them all in one place. I am also going to link a pattern that I found that would be similar to the one I must have used when I stitched these up years ago. It would be the one I would use now if I were to try and make them again.

The pattern I used for this project was something I had found free online, but this was not a project I logged into my projects on Ravelry so I don’t remember the exact one I used now. However, after seeing these pics I wanted to find the pattern in case I decided to make some more!! I came across this pattern that was very similar to the one I think I used then.
Crochet Barefoot Sandal
In case you wanted a little reminder as to how adorable they look, here is another pic of my niece wearing them that I posted a little while back.
Good yarn choices to use to make this would be Vanna’s Choice, Caron Simply Soft Party, and Red Heart Soft. I recommend any of these. I’m including an Amazon link below to find a few of these there. A few other places to check out to see if you could find good sales on any of these yarns listed above are the Lion Brand and Create For Less websites.
Something else that comes in handy if you decide you’d like to stitch this pattern up for yourself is a good set of crochet hooks. My favorite brand of hooks to use are the Knit Picks brand. They are so beautiful and well made. Pictured below are the knitting needle version, of which they offer a mosaic wood version of the crochet hooks as well. I just love them. They also offer a padded handle set. I have a wooden set (although not the mosaic one…bummer…they didn’t offer that when I bought mine) and I have the padded set and I love both of them.
Whatever you do, make sure to do your research. If you purchase quality hooks from the start, you won’t have to buy replacements later on. They will stand the test of time and use, so do your homework first and shop smart!
If you currently don’t know how to crochet, I’d be happy to stitch these up for you, just send me a message to custom order. Or…. I highly recommend learning how to crochet yourself! Check out the site for Annie’s below for an online learning option. You can try this site out for free to see if you like it before continuing a membership. I’m also including a link for a kit similar to what I purchased back in 2012 that I used to aid in teaching myself to crochet, long before these great online resources were as readily available.
That should be about all you need if you want to try this one out. Please let me know if you have any questions or need any help. Be sure to also check the links below for Cratejoy….a GREAT gift idea for anyone on your gift giving list. Perfect ideas for birthdays or other holidays…or just because. They are gifts that keep on giving and have someone know they are loved and thought of often. There are options for young, old, men, and women.
