Crochet Baby Baseball Cocoon ~ March 30, 2014

After making the crochet baby football cocoon, someone approached me about making a crochet baby baseball cocoon. Upon searching for a pattern for a baseball version, I realized I was not able to find one. Therefore, I actually just used the basic pattern from the football version and stitched the baseball one. I had to eyeball where to put the baseball stitching, but otherwise it was just basically working the entire cocoon in white and adding the details afterward. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

As I stated above, I was unable to find a baseball version of the cocoon that I liked. Therefore I used the football pattern I had previously used and just adjusted it to look like a baseball. To be sure, it was very easy to make the few changes necessary to do this.

Yarn used

Red Heart Super Saver in White for the main part and Burgundy for the details.

A few good substitutes would be: Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice , Red Heart Soft, Bernat Softee Baby and Caron Simply Soft, to name a few.

Great yarn websites to check out would be: LoveCrafts, Lion Brand, Knitpicks/We Crochet , Mary Maxim and Knitcrate.

Crochet Hooks and tools

For this project I used U.S. Size 6.0mm (J) and 6.5 mm(K) hooks

Furthermore, something else that comes in handy if you decide you’d like to stitch these sets up for yourself is a good set of crochet hooks. Undoubtedly my favorite brand to use are the Knit Picks brand.

I also have a cute little set from Amazon that I love too. You can buy this one fairly inexpensively and it comes with some tools and notions that will be helpful too. Several buying options to choose from and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them. 🙂 Additionally I have the light up set pictured below. I love that it’s rechargeable!

Additional Tools for when your wrists and/or hands ache

If you are like me and you knit and crochet a lot, something that I have found is useful at times is a pair of stress relief gloves. I own a few different kinds, but I do think any of them is better than not using anything at all if your hands and wrists are bothering you. In fact I’ll include a few links for you to check out.
