Crochet Red Ninja Turtle Newsboy Hat ~ October 22, 2016

This Crochet Red Ninja Turtle Newsboy Hat was saved on my Ravelry page with very little info about it. I am going to assume that it was stitched as a last minute birthday gift for one of my kids. Ha ha. Sometimes when we would get last minute birthday invites, my go-to gift was this hat project. This was especially true while my husband was deployed and getting to the store with 4 kids was no easy feat!

Crochet Ninja Turtle Hat Pattern Info:

This hat was created from my Ninja Turtle Newsboy Hat and/or Beanie Pattern. There are not only two options to choose from for the ties in the back of the hat, but also two variations to finishing the hat itself. You can select to stitch either a short tie or a long tie depending on which look you like better. Additionally, you can choose to make this as a newsboy hat or beanie.

Yarn used for the Crochet Ninja Turtle Hat

Caron United in Dark Green. Unfortunately I was unable to find a link for this yarn. My guess is it has been discontinued. A good replacement would be the Vanna’s choice in either the Kelly Green, Dusty Green or my favorite choice of Olive.

Red: Vanna’s Choice in Scarlet

A few good substitutes would be: Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice , Red Heart Soft, Bernat Softee Baby and Caron Simply Soft, to name a few.

Great yarn websites to check out would be: LoveCrafts, Lion Brand, Knitpicks/We Crochet , Mary Maxim and Knitcrate.

Crochet Hooks and tools

Furthermore, something else that comes in handy if you decide you’d like to stitch these sets up for yourself is a good set of crochet hooks. Undoubtedly my favorite brand to use are the Knit Picks brand.

I also have a cute little set from Amazon that I love too. You can buy this one fairly inexpensively and it comes with some tools and notions that will be helpful too. Several buying options to choose from and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them. πŸ™‚ Additionally I have the light up set pictured below. I love that it’s rechargeable!

Additional Tools for when your wrists and/or hands ache

If you are like me and you knit and crochet a lot, something that I have found is useful at times is a pair of stress relief gloves. I own a few different kinds, but I do think any of them is better than not using anything at all if your hands and wrists are bothering you. In fact I’ll include a few links for you to check out.
