Jackie’s Crochet Slouch Hat is part of a custom order I received for one whole family. If you saw the previous post for Brody’s Simple Knit Hat that was part of this same order. And you will see several other posts for this order as well. This particular request was a new item I had never made before. It just so happened that the customer had seen a hat she really loved and asked if I could make it for her. And so I searched for the pattern and was able to find the one she loved.

Yarn used for the Crochet Slouch Hat
Black: Lion Brand Wool Ease in Black
To be sure, you can use any worsted weight size 4 yarn to stitch something similar.
Additionally, other good choices to use would be Lion Brand Pound of love, Vanna’s Choice and Red Heart Soft. Without a doubt I would recommend any of these.
A good place to check out to see if you could find good sales on yarn are the Lion Brand Website or the Create For Less website. Knit Picks also has a variety of worsted weight yarns to choose from that I will also share links for below that you could use to stitch this up as well. The list won’t be exhaustive, so make sure to check out their website yourself if you don’t find anything I’ve shared to be what you’re looking for. They definitely have a LOT more options than just what’s posted here.
Crochet and tools
For this project I used a U.S. Size H (5.0 mm)hook.
Furthermore, something else that comes in handy if you decide you’d like to stitch these sets up for yourself is a good set of crochet hooks. Undoubtedly my favorite brand to use are the Knit Picks brand.
I also have a cute little set from Amazon that I love too. You can buy this one fairly inexpensively and it comes with some tools and notions that will be helpful too. Several buying options to choose from and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them. 🙂 Additionally I have the light up set pictured below. I love that it’s rechargeable!
Make it even more fun and get the whole beginner crochet kit.
Additional Tools for when your wrists and/or hands ache
If you are like me and you knit and crochet a lot, something that I have found is useful at times is a pair of stress relief gloves. I own a few different kinds, but I do think any of them is better than not using anything at all if your hands and wrists are bothering you. In fact I’ll include a few links for you to check out.
