Kathy H.’s Crochet Purple Ninja Turtle Hat is next up on my project list. As a courtesy I like to try and give fair warning when the blog is about to take on a bit of a repetitive nature. Ninja Turtle Hats are about to explode. And as a result of that, be prepared to see a number of these hats posted over the next few days and weeks. We have a very busy summer planned ahead and I fear I will not be able to blog as much as I would like. Therefore it is quite possible these posts may be dragged on for a while. But I will do my best to keep the journal going as often as I possibly can.

Crochet Ninja Turtle Hat Pattern Info:
This hat was created from my Ninja Turtle Newsboy Hat and/or Beanie Pattern. Indeed there is a fun fact about this pattern. My sister was a huge Ninja Turtle fan as a little girl. Granted, most items sold were geared more toward little boys, as Ninja Turtle’s were more a boy character than a girl one. So in honor of my sister and her love for Ninja Turtles, I originally designed this hat in order to stitch them for little girls who loved the Ninja Turtles. To be sure, many of the hats I stitched included a little sparkle in the yarn for that added girlie touch. 😉
Yarn used for the Crochet Ninja Turtle Hat
Lion Brand Wool Ease in the color avocado however this colorway is no longer found. A good replacement would be the Vanna’s choice in either the Kelly Green, Dusty Green or my favorite choice of Olive.
Purple: Vanna’s Choice in Purple Colorway
A few good substitutes would be: Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice , Red Heart Soft, Bernat Softee Baby and Caron Simply Soft, to name a few.
Great yarn websites to check out would be: LoveCrafts, Lion Brand, Knitpicks/We Crochet , Mary Maxim and Knitcrate.
Crochet Hooks and tools
For this project I used U.S. Size I (5.5 0 mm), J (6.0mm) and K (6.5mm) hooks.
Furthermore, something else that comes in handy if you decide you’d like to stitch these sets up for yourself is a good set of crochet hooks. Undoubtedly my favorite brand to use are the Knit Picks brand.
I also have a cute little set from Amazon that I love too. You can buy this one fairly inexpensively and it comes with some tools and notions that will be helpful too. Several buying options to choose from and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them. 🙂 Additionally I have the light up set pictured below. I love that it’s rechargeable!
Make it even more fun and get the whole beginner crochet kit.
A little bling
Of course many little girls love a little added bling when it comes to their accessories. For many of the hats I stitched, I would add these fun little gemstones. While I don’t remember exactly where I purchased them, most likely it was at a craft store or amazon. Nevertheless I am adding a few amazon links to point you in the right direction. Another option I used frequently were fun buttons. Be creative!!
Additional Tools for when your wrists and/or hands ache
If you are like me and you knit and crochet a lot, something that I have found is useful at times is a pair of stress relief gloves. I own a few different kinds, but I do think any of them is better than not using anything at all if your hands and wrists are bothering you. In fact I’ll include a few links for you to check out.
