Knit Feel Good Cowl ~ September 13, 2013

Happy New Year! Phew! I am finally getting back to my computer after weeks of craziness. Between having Covid and heading straight into the holidays I have not sat at my desk in weeks, except to do a few bills here and there. Gotta keep the lights on ha ha! Now I am finally sitting with a hot cup of coffee and kicking off the new year with one of my favorite projects that I stitched for myself, the knit Feel Good Cowl. I still wear it all the time!

Materials:

*US Size 3 (3.25mm) 24-inch circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge
*Tapestry Needle
*Noro Taiyo Sock (fingering weight; 50% cotton/17% wool/17% nylon/16% silk;
462 yds/100g per skein): 1 skein browns/greens/red/plum #2

In all honesty, finding this yarn back in 2013 was very difficult. In fact, I would be surprised if it hasn’t been discontinued by this point. I do know that Noro is still a yarn available today, but it is very likely the Taiyo Sock yarn is no longer made. If I have learned anything in my many years of knitting and crocheting, it’s that yarn substitution is sometimes necessary. I do believe you can find something equally as beautiful to stitch this feel good cowl in. In fact, the next time I stitch one, I plan to use Knit Picks Chroma Fingering Weight yarn, as pictured below.

What are the best needles and tools to use?

In addition to having great yarn, Knit Picks also carries my favorite needles. In fact, I’m pretty sure they have everything you can think of… from straight needles, to double pointed needles to an awesome interchangeable set you are sure to love.

Still unsure of what you should purchase? Then I definitely recommend doing your own research and read the reviews. Indeed, you are making an investment in your craft. For this reason you want to be sure you’ll be happy with them for a long time to come. So check out the link below to see what the Knit Picks needles are all about. Without a doubt, I highly recommend them being included in your research.

In addition to this, I’m also including a few links to Amazon for some interchangeable sets that come with excellent reviews. To be sure, I believe interchangeable is one of the most economical ways to get started in knitting. These sets are versatile and can be used for just about any knitting project. In fact, you can even use them to knit in the round if you learn the magic loop!!

Need a little more help?

In short, that should be about all you need if you want to try this one out. However, maybe you still feel like you might need a little extra assistance. If so, check out the links below for Craftsy or Annie’s. As a matter of fact, I take online classes often to improve and advance my skills. Undoubtedly, you can always learn something new! Indeed I actually taught myself to knit and crochet through “Teach myself” kits. In addition I’ll share a link for something very similar to what I purchased for myself below as well.
