Knit Monster Pants #40 ~ January 26, 2015

Knit Monster Pants #40 was next in line. Custom orders kept pouring into my Stay@Home Stitchings Etsy shop. As you will probably start tracking, these Knit Monster Pants took at least 5 days to stitch, sometimes longer depending on what was going on in every day life. I tried to track exactly how many hours a pair took to stitch. That was difficult to do since it was a lot of picking up and putting down in between when I could work on in. I think I determined anywhere from 25-35 hours depending on the size I was working on. I don’t know if the bigger sizes ever took me quite as long as 35 hours to make, but I knew they took a lot longer than the smallest size. Thank you for your patience as I get all these projects documented!!

What yarn did I used for Mindy’s Knit Monster Pants #40?

After getting the pattern you’ll need good quality yarn. For this project I used:

Baby Bernat- Pale Blue
Simply Soft Caron – Dark Country Blue
Loops and Threads- Snuggly Wuggly Dove Grey

I designed this pattern using Knit Picks Brava Sport Yarn. You are welcome to replace it with another yarn of DK or Sport Weight. Another one I have loved using is Cascade Yarns Cherub DK yarn. If you are planning on making this something that will stay in the family for years to come, make sure you use something that is good quality and will stand up over time.

What are the best needles and tools to use?

My favorite needles which are at Knit Picks. Previous posts of mine go into greater detail as to why I have chosen them over other brands, please scroll through and check my story out. Even better, comment on this post or send me an email and I would be happy to discuss with you.

If you are unsure of what you should purchase, I definitely recommend doing your own research and read the reviews. Keep in mind that you are making an investment in your craft. For this reason you want to be sure you’ll be happy with them for a long time to come. So check out the linksto see what the Knit Picks needles are all about. I highly recommend them being included in your research.

In addition to this, I’m also including a few links to Amazon for some interchangeable sets that come with excellent reviews. To tell the truth, I believe interchangeable is one of the most economical ways to get started in knitting. These sets are versatile and can be used for just about any knitting project. In fact, you can even use them to knit in the round if you learn the magic loop!!

Additional Tools for when your wrists and/or hands ache

If you are like me and you knit and crochet a lot, something that I have found is useful at times is a pair of stress relief gloves. I own a few different kinds, but I do think any of them is better than not using anything at all if your hands and wrists are bothering you. I’ll include a few links for you to check out.

Need a little more help?

In short, that should be about all you need if you want to try this one out. However, maybe you still feel like you might need a little extra assistance. That being the case you might want online classes to help you. If so, check out the links below for Craftsy or Annie’s. As a matter of fact, I take online classes often to improve and advance my skills. You can always learn something new! I actually taught myself to knit and crochet through “Teach myself” kits. In addition I’ll share a link for something very similar to what I purchased for myself below as well.
