Makayla’s Crochet Panda Scarf ~ February 21, 2016

Makayla’s Crochet Panda Scarf was something I was super proud of. My niece absolutely loved panda bears and at some point mentioned wanting a panda scarf. I would have never thought of making her a scarf, as she lived in Florida and I didn’t think she would have any use for one. However, she asked for one, so I made one. And I loved the final results!! Yet another project that I should really make again. I can’t believe I only made some of these projects once!

Yarn used for the Crochet Panda Scarf

The pattern lists the yarn Malabrigo Merino Worsted in natural and black, but I’m pretty sure I would have used Vanna’s Choice or Red Heart Soft. I did not write down all the details like I should have. But I have never used Malabrigo brand before so I know I did not use that for this project. Without a doubt you should be safe using just about any worsted weight yarn for this project.

A few good substitutes would be: Lion Brand , Red Heart Soft, Bernat Softee Baby and Caron Simply Soft, to name a few.

Great yarn websites to check out would be: LoveCrafts, Lion Brand, Knitpicks/We Crochet , and Mary Maxim.

Crochet Hooks and tools

For this project I used U.S. Size I (5.5 0 mm) hook.

Furthermore, something else that comes in handy if you decide you’d like to stitch these sets up for yourself is a good set of crochet hooks. Undoubtedly my favorite brand to use are the Knit Picks brand.

I also have a cute little set from Amazon that I love too. You can buy this one fairly inexpensively and it comes with some tools and notions that will be helpful too. Several buying options to choose from and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them. 🙂 Additionally I have the light up set pictured below. I love that it’s rechargeable!

Additional Tools for when your wrists and/or hands ache

If you are like me and you knit and crochet a lot, something that I have found is useful at times is a pair of stress relief gloves. I own a few different kinds, but I do think any of them is better than not using anything at all if your hands and wrists are bothering you. In fact I’ll include a few links for you to check out.
