Maylie’s Blanket ~ February 4, 2008

February 4, 2008
Each of my kiddos, when they reached a certain age of which they had an opinion of what colors they really liked, got to choose a few of their favorite colors for me to make them a blanket. For reasons that I cannot explain to you now, 12 years later, Maylie got to choose her colors first. Maybe it was because she loved pink and purple and I had a plethora of those colors laying around. Who knows, but she is the first of the kids that had a blanket made for them by mama.

I don’t think I followed any specific pattern for her blanket either. If she were to choose her colors today, pink and purple would probably be at the bottom of her preference list. Teal and gray would be closer to the top. But, this is what happens when you are 2 years old and picking your colors. I did wait until each of the other kids were a little older to choose their colors, but they were all still young enough that their favorites would change as time moves on.

The beauty of it all, regardless of whether or not she would choose these colors again today or not, she still has and uses this blanket , which just makes my heart totally happy.
Happy Stitching of beautiful things for the people you love! πŸ§ΆπŸ’–
