Pink and Black Knit Army Hat ~ September 27, 2014

As I come across this Pink and Black Knit Army Hat, I am reminded of a goal I set myself at that time. To be sure, I had had every intention of creating a design for each branch of the military for my Etsy Shop. Even though my husband served in the Air Force, I truly feel that each branch of our armed forces are equally important. Indeed each branch has it’s unique purpose in helping to protect our country. However, I never did get one of each of these stitched up. So, I guess I have a few more projects to add to my list of things to do. Maybe this walk down memory lane is not a good thing. LOL!

In addition to trying this pattern out, I also have two dischloth patterns that I designed. Not to mention, they are available for free on this website.
And so you can find the Simple Seed Stitch Dishcloth Pattern and the Moss Stitch Dishcloth pattern through these links. Moreover, if you scroll to the end of either of those links you will see an option to download the PDF file.

What yarn did I used for this Pink and Black Knit Army Hat?

Lion Brands Wool Ease in Black for the main color and Raspberry for the symbol (although Vanna’s Choice has a similar colors and I love that yarn too).

Other good yarn choices I would recommend to use to make this would be Lion Brands Pound of Love, Caron simply soft and Red Heart Soft. Places to yarn shop for these brands would be Amazon , Lion Brand and Create For Less websites.

What are the best needles and tools to use?

My favorite needles which are at Knit Picks. Previous posts of mine go into greater detail as to why I have chosen them over other brands, please scroll through and check my story out. Even better, comment on this post or send me an email and I would be happy to discuss with you.

If you are unsure of what you should purchase, I definitely recommend doing your own research and read the reviews. Keep in mind that you are making an investment in your craft. For this reason you want to be sure you’ll be happy with them for a long time to come. So check out the linksto see what the Knit Picks needles are all about. I highly recommend them being included in your research.

In addition to this, I’m also including a few links to Amazon for some interchangeable sets that come with excellent reviews. To tell the truth, I believe interchangeable is one of the most economical ways to get started in knitting. These sets are versatile and can be used for just about any knitting project. In fact, you can even use them to knit in the round if you learn the magic loop!!

Additional Tools for when your wrists and/or hands ache

If you are like me and you knit and crochet a lot, something that I have found is useful at times is a pair of stress relief gloves. I own a few different kinds, but I do think any of them is better than not using anything at all if your hands and wrists are bothering you. I’ll include a few links for you to check out.

Need a little more help?

In short, that should be about all you need if you want to try this one out. However, maybe you still feel like you might need a little extra assistance. That being the case you might want online classes to help you. If so, check out the links below for Craftsy or Annie’s. As a matter of fact, I take online classes often to improve and advance my skills. You can always learn something new! I actually taught myself to knit and crochet through “Teach myself” kits. In addition I’ll share a link for something very similar to what I purchased for myself below as well.
