Sparkle Black Flower Newsboy Hat ~ October 23, 2011

~October 23, 2011~

That is not lint that you see on the hat pictured above, LOL, that is the sparkle reflecting from the flash of the camera. 9 years ago I did not have the photography knowledge that I have now. Even now my knowledge is very limited….but it is at least more than it was back then. In my defense, I really didn’t expect I would ever need to use the pictures other than for my own reference. I am SO grateful that I took the pictures that I did. I don’t know that I took pictures of absolutely everything I made, but walking back through memory lane it seems that I at least got most of them. 😊

This hat was created from my Ninja Turtle Newsboy Hat and/or Beanie Pattern. This was a very simple variation of it, because instead of adding the stripe I just worked the entire thing up in Caron Simply Soft Party Yarn ~ Colorway: Black Sparkle. Instead of doing the ties, I crocheted a flower instead. That is my 3 Layer Flower Pattern that I shared on another post. This was a custom order and was requested to be completely stitched in the black sparkle yarn. This looked much better in person because you could see the flower a little better than you can see it in the pictures.

If I can make one suggestion to you, as I have made several times in the last few months after starting this back-track to journal all my past projects in one place….TAKE PICTURES!! To the best of your ability take GOOD pictures. As you can tell from some of my posts, especially my earliest posts…I did not always follow this advise and boy do I wish I had now. Again, back when I was just starting to stitch I never in a million years thought I would be where I am today. Even if you think your stitching journey will go no further than where you are today, you will never regret taking good project pictures. You’ll be happy to have them to look back on, even if its just to track your own personal stitching progress.

You will definitely be able to tell how far you’ve come when looking back over the things you have made. One project may stir up all kinds of emotions and memories just by looking at the pictures. I really cannot stress it enough…take pictures! If you are giving your projects away, you many never get another opportunity other than when you finish stitching it. Better to have them than to regret not taking them. πŸ“Έ
