Adeysha’s Crochet Flower Newsboy Hat ~ December 12, 2015

Adeysha’s Crochet Flower Newsboy Hat was a project that I stitched up for our neighbor for her birthday. We were still fairly new to the neighborhood at that time, so the girls didn’t know their new friend well enough to pick out a toy they could be confident she didn’t already have. That is one thing I love about being able to make gifts to give them. You can be pretty confident you are giving them something they don’t already have!

Crochet Flower Newsboy Hat Pattern Info:

This hat was created from my Ninja Turtle Newsboy Hat and/or Beanie Pattern. Instead of doing the ties, as in the Ninja Turtle Pattern, I stitched a flower instead. I have also stitched this hat using a snowflake for a Christmas version.

For the flower you can find my 3 Layer Flower Pattern that I shared on another post. You can also find my pattern for my Flower and Car Fringe Textured Scarf Pattern which I designed to go with this hat to make a beautiful textured set to give as a set.

I never wrote that pattern out for the flower version of this hat because it was very similar to another designer’s creation and I didn’t want to infringe on that in any way. I do use my Ninja Turtle pattern for the flower hat and just adjust the striping accordingly. If you have any questions with how to do this, please just contact me for help.

There is a great book called 200 Crochet Flowers, Embellishments & Trims that has all sorts of other options to choose from. Click the link below to take you to it on Amazon:

Yarn used for the Crochet Newsboy Hat

Caron Simply soft party in fushcia sparkle colorway for the stripe and flower. I did not notate what yarn was used for the main portion of the hat, but it looks very close to Lion Brand‘s Pound of love in the bubblegum colorway.

A few good substitutes would be: Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice , Red Heart Soft, Bernat Softee Baby and Caron Simply Soft, to name a few.

Great yarn websites to check out would be: LoveCrafts, Lion Brand, Knitpicks/We Crochet , and Mary Maxim.

Crochet Hooks and tools

Furthermore, something else that comes in handy if you decide you’d like to stitch these sets up for yourself is a good set of crochet hooks. Undoubtedly my favorite brand to use are the Knit Picks brand.

I also have a cute little set from Amazon that I love too. You can buy this one fairly inexpensively and it comes with some tools and notions that will be helpful too. Several buying options to choose from and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them. 🙂 Additionally I have the light up set pictured below. I love that it’s rechargeable!

A little bling

Of course many little girls love a little added bling when it comes to their accessories. For many of the hats I stitched, I would add these fun little gemstones. While I don’t remember exactly where I purchased them, most likely it was at a craft store or amazon. Nevertheless I am adding a few amazon links to point you in the right direction. Another option I used frequently were fun buttons. Be creative!!

Additional Tools for when your wrists and/or hands ache

If you are like me and you knit and crochet a lot, something that I have found is useful at times is a pair of stress relief gloves. I own a few different kinds, but I do think any of them is better than not using anything at all if your hands and wrists are bothering you. In fact I’ll include a few links for you to check out.
