Pattern: Popsicle Boots by Robyn Chachula
This pattern was found in the book Baby Blueprint Crochet by Robyn Chachula if you wanted to buy all the patterns at once instead of one at a time. There were quite a few cute ones in it.
These boots completed the adorable accessories combination I had been putting together between the flower earflap hat and the boots. It was just too much cuteness!!
I really loved this boot pattern but it did take a little thinking and figuring it out to get it to turn out just like I wanted. Finding the material to make the soles of the boots was a little tricky, as I wanted the material to be somewhat sturdy since it was for shoes. Then I had to figure out how to crochet the first round into the material. I ended up finding a tool that cut tiny holes around the outside perimeter of the cut out sole in order to make it nice, neat and uniform all the way around the edge. Once I figured out a game plan and had all the necessary tools, this pattern was pretty simple to crochet, but initially getting it started took a little thinking and planning. These are also worked up in fine yarn, so the stitches are tiny and it takes longer than when you work something in worsted weight. I loved the finished result though so none of that really mattered.
Finishing these were a little tricky too as far as figuring out the snaps and the ribbon to go under them, and my first attempt didn’t look too great, but for the most part that is hidden when the boots are on so you can’t see my poor sewing ability. It is not my strength so patterns that call for it worry me, but I do usually figure out a way to make it work…maybe not the best but to the best of my ability.
