Angela’s Crochet Prayer Shawl is another project when I look back on, brings so many sad memories and great heartache. How incredibly sad that these two tragically sad events happened back to back. Angela was my oldest daughter’s girl scout leader, as well as the mama to her good friend. Their family experienced the sudden loss of Angela’s son, and my first response of course was to begin praying for her and their whole family.
As I previously mentioned with the last prayer shawl, I get distracted fairly easily in my prayer life. I have discovered if I am working on a project for whomever I’m praying for, it helps me keep my prayers focused. Prayer is worked into each and every stitch. So when they wrap that shawl around their shoulders, it is like they are being wrapped up in prayer.
My heart still aches to this day over this loss as well. While I did not personally know the boy who died, a mother should never have to lose a child so young.

Furthermore, something else that comes in handy if you decide you’d like to stitch these sets up for yourself is a good set of crochet hooks. Undoubtedly my favorite brand to use are the Knit Picks brand.
I also have a cute little set from Amazon that I love too. You can buy this one fairly inexpensively and it comes with some tools and notions that will be helpful too. Several buying options to choose from and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them. 🙂 Additionally I have the light up set pictured below. I love that it’s rechargeable!
Make it even more fun and get the whole beginner crochet kit.
Additional Tools for when your wrists and/or hands ache
If you are like me and you knit and crochet a lot, something that I have found is useful at times is a pair of stress relief gloves. I own a few different kinds, but I do think any of them is better than not using anything at all if your hands and wrists are bothering you. In fact I’ll include a few links for you to check out.
