As previously stated in other posts, I also offer a few patterns of my own. In fact I have two that are available for free on this website: Simple Seed Stitch Dishcloth Pattern and my Moss Stitch Dishcloth pattern. Not to mention, if you scroll to the end of either of those links you will see an option to download the PDF file.

What yarn was used for this cowl?

It is true that quite some time has past since I stitched this project. To that end, my memory may or may not serve me well. However, I need to go based off memory for this project as a result of my not notating what yarn was used at the time I stitched it. That being said, I’m not sure I knew what yarn I was using when I stitched it. Because I was in pattern writing mode, I picked up a skein of yarn that was given to me and was not labeled. Consequently I do not know what yarn was used for this particular project.

At the same time, however, I have found one person on Ravelry who purchased this pattern and did notate which yarn was used. Here are some of the very useful notes she took when stitching it:

*A very quick and easy pattern to knit. One pattern repeat takes about 2 to 2.5 hours to complete in the adult size. This is a great stash buster – both versions took just about one 50g skein and can easily be adapted to fit the yarn available.

IMO, it’s important to choose a yarn with good stitch definition or the knotted stitch pattern gets a bit lost. Also, pay attention to the number of knit sts you work at the beginning of each pattern row!

The yarn she notated as using was: Rowan Wool Cotton

Other great choices would be lion brand wool ease or Vanna’s choice . Lion Brands Pound of Love, Red Heart Soft and Caron simply soft . Places to yarn shop for these brands would be Amazon , Lion Brand and Create For Less websites.

What needles and tools did I use?

My favorite needles which are at Knit Picks. Previous posts of mine go into greater detail as to why I have chosen them over other brands, please scroll through and check my story out. Even better, comment on this post or send me an email and I would be happy to discuss with you.

In order to be fair and give more than just one option, I’m also including a few links to Amazon for some interchangeable sets that come with excellent reviews. I believe interchangeable is one of the most economical ways to get started in knitting. These sets are versatile and can be used for just about any knitting project. In fact, you can even use them to knit in the round if you learn the magic loop!!

Additional Tools for when your wrists and/or hands ache

If you are like me and you knit and crochet a lot, something that I have found is useful at times is a pair of stress relief gloves. I own a few different kinds, but I do think any of them is better than not using anything at all if your hands and wrists are bothering you. I’ll include a few links for you to check out.

I taught myself to knit and crochet through kits that I found at my local craft store, so there is always that option as well. I’ll share links to kits similar to what I used that you can also find on Amazon if you can’t find at your local craft store or can’t get to one soon.
