Pattern Information:
First off, this is a one skein (less than one full skein) project. For this reason it makes it extremely quick and easy to stitch up. As a matter of fact, you can have even the largest size worked up in about 5 hours or less depending on how quickly you knit.
Second, you will need to know this pattern requires 180-190 yards of worsted weight yarn.
Third, this project is worked on US size 9 (5.5 mm) 24” (61 cm) circular needles.
Finally, this pattern is for knit skill levels of an advanced beginner. And so, if you are just starting out, it might challenge you a little. However there are photos to help with any of the special stitches that you might be intimidated by. Besides this Knotty Stitch Knit Cowl pattern, you can also find this particular stitch pattern in my Knot Stitch Dishcloth Knit Pattern. In the event you wanted to start out with something a little more simple before tackling this bigger project, you might try that one first. Even more, you are always welcome to email me with any questions you have. I can try to assist you that way as well. In short, there is no reason to shy away from making this beautiful cowl yourself.
Yarn Recommendations
If you are looking for yarn recommendations, I stitched this cowl up using Caron Simply Soft. Other great choices would be any worsted weight yarn through Lion Brand, particularly Vanna’s Choice which is one of my favorites. Red Heart Soft yarn is another yarn I like to use a lot. I would also check out Knit Picks for their yarn selection as well. Check out the links below for some of my recommendations. The Red Heart and Caron yarns will have to be searched from on Create For Less Website through the search option.
Needles and Tool Recommendations
If you are looking for a great set of needles to invest in, I also highly recommend Knit Picks. When I first started knitting I spent a few days researching different needle brands and trying to decide which would be the best option for the long run. After reading many reviews I decided to invest in the Knit Picks Needles. This was many years ago and my needles are still in great condition. I recommend you do your own research so that you can find what the best fit for you will be. Reading the reviews of the options you are searching is always the best way to find out if it’s a needle worth having.
Need More Help?
If you feel like you need even a little more assistance, check out the options below for some great resources to take classes. As a matter of fact, I take online classes often to improve and advance my skills. You can always learn something new! I actually taught myself to knit and crochet through “Teach myself” kits. In addition I’ll share a link for something very similar to what I purchased for myself below as well.
