Welcome to the post that contains everything you’ll need to make Mindy’s Knit Elf Hat Pattern. I designed this pattern to complement my Mindy’s Knit Elf Pants Pattern. You can find these patterns in my Etsy , Ravelry and Lovecrafts Shops. Both patterns were inspired by the Elf on the Shelf character. This is why the hat is lacking a pom pom. However, feel free to add one for a more traditional look. 🙂 Stitch both the pants and the hat to make a great family heirloom set to pass down for many generations.

What yarn was used to stitch Mindy’s Knit Elf Hat?
After getting the pattern you’ll need good quality yarn. I designed this pattern using Knit Picks Brava Sport Yarn. You are welcome to replace it with another yarn of DK or Sport Weight. If you are planning on making this something that will stay in the family for years to come, make sure you use something that is good quality and will stand up over time.
Other companies you may want to check out the yarn selection is Lion Brand and Create For Less, which also has notions, needles and tools for great bargain prices.
Needles and Tools
The next thing that you need is a good set of knitting needles. I researched many different brands but my favorite needles also come from Knit Picks. I warn you now before you click on one of these Knit Picks links…once you go there you will be hooked for life. LOL There are so many different needles and tools to choose from. You need to do your research and find what works best for you. It’s best to read the reviews and do your homework. A good pair of knitting needles can really last you for life, so invest well.
I guess we have discovered that Knit Picks has it all…. LOL
Happy Shopping!
Additional Tools for when your wrists and/or hands ache
If you are like me and you knit and crochet a lot, something that I have found is useful at times is a pair of stress relief gloves. I own a few different kinds, but I do think any of them is better than not using anything at all if your hands and wrists are bothering you. I’ll include a few links for you to check out.
Need a little more help?
That should be about all you need if you want to try this one out. If you feel like you might need a little extra assistance and want online classes to help you, check out the link below for Annie’s and Crafty websites. I take online classes often to improve and advance my skills. You can always learn something new!
I taught myself to knit and crochet through kits that I found at my local craft store, so there is always that option as well. I’ll share links to kits similar to what I used that you can also find on Amazon if you can’t find at your local craft store or can’t get to one soon.
A few more yarn buying resources
Finally I would like to include just a few more places I like to buy yarn. However, you can be sure, this list is not exhaustive. Indeed, there are a LOT of places I like to buy yarn and tools.
Pattern, yarn and needles….that’s all you need to get this project going. Please let me know if you have any questions or need any help.
Happy Stitching
