My Alpine Holiday Knit Scarf was a special project that I had stitched just for me. It isn’t often I squeeze in a project for myself, but it’s always a treat when I do. I absolutely love this scarf and still wear it even now, 8 years later.
When I purchased this kit, it also came with a tutorial on how to insert and use a lifeline. While I don’t use that technique often, I have found it very helpful on a few projects I’ve done over the years since learning it. I was very grateful for the lesson.
If I remember correctly, this was a kit I bought through the Craftsy website, which at some point became Bluprint, which has now returned to Craftsy. I no longer see this kit, or even this pattern, available anywhere. That is a big bummer because I really like this one and I have no way to share it with you all!

Alpine Holiday Knit Scarf by Kalurah Hudson
For me this pattern came in kit with the yarn and buttons. Upon researching this today to post about it, I was sad to discover that this pattern looks like it is no longer available. In the event you are able to do a more thorough internet search than I did, I am including the pattern name along with the designer’s name as well.
A few Free Patterns of mine:
I have two dishcloth patterns that are available for free on this website.
And you can find the Simple Seed Stitch Dishcloth Pattern and the Moss Stitch Dishcloth pattern through these links. Moreover, if you scroll to the end of either of those links you will see an option to download the PDF file.
What yarn did I used for My Alpine Holiday Knit Scarf?
For this project I used the yarn that was suggested and came in the kit with the pattern. Without a doubt I wish this kit was still an option for you to purchase. It also came with the amazing handmade wooden buttons. It just so happens, however, that I loved this pattern so much and I have a very crafty father in law in the woodworking department. When I asked him, he made me a bunch of handmade wooden buttons so I could make more of these scarves to sell.
The yarn included in the kit was Rowan Pure Wool Superwash Worsted in the colorways cream, rich red and ocean. Sadly, I no longer see ocean available, but the colorway sky looks fairly similar.
Other places to yarn shop would be Knit Picks, Amazon , Lion Brand , Lovecrafts, Mary Maxim , A Cherry on Top, and Create For Less websites.
What are the best needles and tools to use?
If you are unsure of what you should purchase, I definitely recommend doing your own research and read the reviews. Keep in mind that you are making an investment in your craft. For this reason you want to be sure you’ll be happy with them for a long time to come. So check out the links to see what the Knit Picks needles are all about. I highly recommend them being included in your research.
Additional Tools for when your wrists and/or hands ache
If you are like me and you knit and crochet a lot, something that I have found is useful at times is a pair of stress relief gloves. I own a few different kinds, but I do think any of them is better than not using anything at all if your hands and wrists are bothering you. I’ll include a few links for you to check out.
Need a little more help?
In short, that should be about all you need if you want to try this one out. However, maybe you still feel like you might need a little extra assistance. That being the case you might want online classes to help you. If so, check out the links below for Craftsy or Annie’s. As a matter of fact, I take online classes often to improve and advance my skills. You can always learn something new! I actually taught myself to knit and crochet through “Teach myself” kits. In addition I’ll share a link for something very similar to what I purchased for myself below as well.
If you have any questions about the information in this post please just leave me a comment.
Happy Stitching!
